6.0 Upper fuel filter housing

Do any of you know what the actual physical differences are between the 04 6.0 fuel filter housings and the 06 6.0 fuel filter housings? Ive been told the 06 was the one that didnt use the plastic retainer sleeve for the regulator. Was wondering if i could swap it them out to eliminate the plastic sleeve. But I cant seem to find what all the differences are between the 2.

Since they use the same filter, you'd think it would work? Although I guess it's better to be sure.

If you order one, you should get the latest version unless they dust off and ship an old one that's been sitting on the shelf for years.

would hope so but i know the "attached" oil filter housing had differences in it. so thats partly what im wondering about there.. Later ones used a taller filter with a spring loaded center post. but i think that center post just went through the housing not attached to it.

On an 04 you can have two different supply lines as they were changed sometime in the late 04 models. The supply line on the later 04 is designed to prevent the fuel bowl from draining back into the fuel tank like the later model trucks (05 and up).

Best way I can describe it is that the later model fuel supply line does an up and over (upside down "U") and is bolted to the housing with a banjo bolt and copper washers. The earlier model 04 line comes up from the tank and goes straight in and uses threads. I'm not home so I can't get you pictures.

Hmmm wonder if I could just swap that line when I go to change it.. Or if the threads were similar enough to just screw the line straight in.

No worries on the pictures.. I'm not in a hurry to do this.. It'll probably be a winter/spring project anyways.. So whenver you can get them.. Just trying to get the research for the project out of the way first.
