Bought an 08' F350 XL
power locks/power windows


How do I know if I am able to program the keyless entry or not ?

I bought two fobs but I cant get into programming mode for the life of me. Turn the key 8 times within 10 seconds and I cant get the second step, programming step.

Took mine to a Ford dealer because the PO didn't tell anyone his personal code......they can reset to factory default and then I was able to reprogram to what ever I decided. Although I left it at the default code I can reset it because I know the existing code. If you don't know the code now you can't change it to your personal choice.


I am referring to the touch pad on the door..........If you are talking about the buttons on the key chain disregard what I wrote.

 

It may not have keyless entry. I have an '08 F-250 XLT that I bought new. It has PW & PDL, but not keyless entry. I had an aftermarket remote start installed which got the fobs to unlock, but no keypad.

Ford has a stick-on, add-on keypad that you can put on yours.

 

Thanks. I guess mine doesn't have the keyless. I will price out keyless with remote start soon.
Anyone know if I can add keyless and use the factory fobs ?

Don't really need the auto start

 

I will say after going from a truck with no remote start to a truck with remote start. It sure is nice to have the cab all toasty and ready to go on cold mornings. Plus i don't think it will cost anymore to have an aftermarket system install compared to a ford dealer installing one.

 

Okay. I will have to look into an aftermarket option. I need keyless

Look at the Viper remote alarms. Had one in my 08. It was great with a long range. I have a compustar in my 11. I dont like it as well as the viper. The range isnt there and you really have to hold the button down and point it in the general direction. The viper worked around corners. Best buy has viper. Have it professionally installed.

 

I hate to be "that guy" but if you don't need your FOBs, I might be interested...

I've had a stupid question about turning the key on/off 8 times,
Is on/off 1
On/off 2
Etc up to 8
Or is it
On 1
Off 2
On 3
Etc?
I ask because my locks pop at the 4th "set" of on/off's

 

If it doesn't pop the locks when the key is cycled it probably doesn't have it. only way to know for sure is go to Ford parts counter and give them the serial number they can look up the build sheet on the truck and it will tell you if it has it or not. I have an 08 XLT and the locks pop but won't program they looked it up and it came "less keyless entry"
