I just read thru this thread and realized this guy is really onto something and wanted to pass it along. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...w-starter.html

Take you time and really READ it and understand what he is explaining here..DO not be under the gun to get your truck fixed in 2 min.

MANY THANKS TO YOU ALSO

I guess I should change my user name to "76 & 78 F250Rangers." I also am an A & P (gather from you saying you worked on helicopters) and have two F250 trucks and an E250 van. It all started with purchasing my friend's 76 Super Cab 460 for $500 because my truck just got totaled...13 years ago! I just brought home the 78 4x4 351M single cab long bed. I really wanted to build the truck that Ford should have, Super Cab 4x4 460, but have decided that due to their both excellent sheet metal and virtually unmolested, stock states, two trucks are better than one. My best friend ( now deceased) bought the SC truck new and it now has surpassed the half-million mile mark. It won't be an actual restoration, but it will be nice. The 78 has been sitting in the desert on a friend's property (came with the place) for over 10years. With a little TLC, 6 hours and about 200 pounds of Mojave silt removal later, I fired it up last night and sounds great. No dents on either, so now it looks like I'm a Ford guy again (my race car is still a 65 Cutlass, all steel body, 511 cu. In., twin turbos, two stage nitrous under stock fender wells, 10" wide slick and runs low 8 second quarter miles). My eyes are now on a 78? 1 ton straight 6 flatbed, also in a field. So far the only one I paid for was the 76, not too bad, I guess. Thank you for the time, effort and energy I know it took to do this. I'm sure it will be lots of help in the future.

If you plan on doing any service to the brake lines, go ahead and order a complete set from Inline Tube or LMC or whomever you prefer. I had planned on replacing just the rubber hoses on mine, but as I got to the rear the fittings wouldn't let go and stripped out from the rear T. If they are original lines, they will be weak. All in all I have probably spent an extra 50-75 by doing it one section at a time.

Love that color. Door seals with a metal strip in them (off a 90 ish Ford) seem to work better than glue on replacements. The ones with the metal strip have to be trimmed at the bottom corners. They will not fit under the aluminium strip. No need to double post the diagrams, you can edit your post and delete it if you want.

Thanks for the info on door deals, will definately ck it out.
As for the edit thanks again and will try n remember next time, I think I'm to late to do it now or at least I don't know how to be more exact.
I bought a new cab n chassis dually in 74' the same color as yours in pic and thought about changing my 78' to it but decided to keep original color and only changed the grill to a 77'.

1st attempt at two stage, now the sanding.
Painting it was a challenge for me since I've never painted two stage and did manage to get some orange peel 🤣 but was able to sand it out and only painted one other car and that was in high school in 1960.
Been watching for another project since it was kind of fun as well as rewarding although a little pricey.
Hope your holidays are pleasant.

The Master Cylinder to Proportioning valve lines newly available from JBG for the Bronco will work on a 78 and I assume 79 F150 4wd with minor modifications.
