Truck won't start with A/C compressor unplugged
I have a 2000 F350 v10 and the A/C compressor is locked up. Since I only use the truck for snow plowing in the winter and don't need A/C I figured I would install a Dorman HELP AC Bypass Pulley 34188 which replaces the compressor pulley. But the problem is once I pull the power plug from the compressor the truck won't start, it turns over but no start, put the plug back into the compressor it starts. Seems strange what power to the compressor has to do with starting. I contacted Dorman and the tech said he never heard of this, I found this even stranger since everyone using this kit will have the same problem. All I can think of doing is trying to jump the two wires in the plug and see if it starts, if so maybe cut off the plug and splice the wires together. Hopefully someone can give some input as to why it won't start and if splicing the wires is a good idea. Thanks.

no offense, but it sounds like you're unplugging the wrong connector. Post a pic.

Thanks for the tips. I have found a diagram that shows the compressor has two plugs, the one I had removed is the crankshaft position sensor, the electrical connector is on the other side up high out of sight. So the new question is if I am going to get rid of the compressor where do I now plug the CPS so it will start.
