So it begins.... Iowa Fall 2014 chat thread

Starting to get some harvesting going on around here, one of the later years I can remember for that. Quite the reminder I have to get in gear and get a few things taken care of yet before the snow shows up...

They were mowing on the river bottom yesterday, which was flooded early this year. That log had to be hard on the mower...I'm sure there was plenty of other driftwood in there.

Yeah they can do some damage. I was able to avoid all of them on the bottom I mowed sat-sun. Was gonna rake and bale today, but decided I would watch the rain instead.

Good morning Iowa, Fall is upon us! Still going to feel like summer here in eastern Nebraska for a few days.

Morning Roger. Hopefully the rain doesn't hamper it too bad.

Beans are dry enough, but I am told the rains will actually help dry the corn down by getting the husks to unfurl a bit. Beans are around 8-9% moisture, while the corn is more like 20-25%, optimum is closer to 10-12%

We've had a good bit of rain over the last day or so, I know we had close to an inch at the house.

I just hope it's dry for the weekend, I've got a few landscaping projects that are waiting to be finished!

Big swap meet over here this weekend. I am contemplating not taking anything and just attend, not sure I want to blow the time on it right now.
