D.U.I. Distributor/Oil Galley Question
Hi, guys.
I bought one of the flashy/fancy/confengled dui distributors about a month and I'm FINALLY making an attempt to install it. Don't ask how long the truck sat untouched before I even decided to buy the new set up.
Anyway, I got this thing and I noticed in the instructions (and in my research before buying it) that if my engine has a high flow oil pump, which received with it's rebuild, then I am to drill a .030" whole through an oil galley plug. None of the instructions/discussions I've dug up have really elaborated past that. Hopefully, if my pictures loaded properly, someone who knows better than I would be kind enough to point me in the right direction...no, literally, please point it out to me! I'm pretty sure that I'm suppose to drill my hole through what appears to be a plug between the two push rods directly above the whole where the distributor is deposited. Am I correct? Anybody have any idea or experience with this? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I sent them off an email but they've yet to respond. Looking back on how long it took for them to send the distributor to me after I had placed my order, I'm beginning to doubt that their response will come any faster. Was just hoping that someone else has been through this before and had a better explanation.

the plug you're referring to is on the front of the block iirc. pretty sure thats the one they're talking about. havent figured out how to post pics here very well...but PM me your email or cell number and i can shoot you a diagram from the shop manual. i also have a couple pics from my last rebuild.

Well, no email back but I did call them. Their instructions aren't very clear that they are actually referring to the small block v8 engines. The guy I talked to said that he's never heard of the 300's having problems with the gear lubrication on their distributors or any added stress as a result of a high volume oil pump. I'm still a bit skeptical, though, because I have busted a gear on the remans that I've used in the past. I think I'll install this distributor and check my oil pressure to see what I'm running with it.
