i like the look of a little interior chrome trim
so on my 06 sd i put in a harley inst cluster bezel with the chrome trim around the speedo and tach

to finish it off i wanted to get the oem radio that had the small chrome trim rings around the ***** also

i bought an 06 radio with chrome trim and installed it but steering wheel controls didn't work so i used it as a parts radio and took the ***** off to put on my radio
well they looked the same from the outside but were slightly different on the inside where the interfaced with the electronics. After some hunting i found a guy with a small lathe that builds model steam engines. He cut a small grove around the outside of my original ***** so i could fit the chrome trim rings off my parts radio on them.

the finished results look like a factory radio with chrome trim rings that i don't think was an option in 06
