1948 f68 (f3 us) light on steering column

I have this light that is on the bracket that attaches the steering column to the dash. Does anyone know what it indicates?

I think it indicates the previous owner added a light as a courtesy light.

It's obviously an added-on warning light for something. Follow the wires and see where they go. If the wiring is gone, then just remove it. It could be for anything some PO could conjure up, but probably meaningless to you.

I had a horrible thought, that everyone came up with their idea of what the light was for, what it warned about. Maybe the tail gate open warning light. Or, headlights on warning light.

It almost looks like a switch, that you pull or turn to energize and then the light comes on. Trace it out.

BTW that is an interesting "temp control" ****. Not stock as far as I know. What does it control, heating water or a fan?

I have not jumped into the cab yet to see what is what. I will do all the tracing then. What all of you have said is that it is not something Ford did so I do not need to try any part it goes with. The truck has a heater.

Thanks, if it does something interesting when I get to the cab this winter I will post a thread.

I chased the wire and the PO has cut it. So no idea. I will just remove it. Thanks again to all for letting me know I do not have to worry about it!
