Running boards

I've had great concern over someone stepping on the running boards. To help protect them some, I installed a foot step and ordered custom made polished ss 3/8" half rounds. 16 of them in total. The shorter rails forward of the foot step have two studs and the rear longer rails have 3 studs. I added 3M double sided 1/4" glue tape to the underside of each piece. After I drilled each stud hole, I primed/painted and cleaned each raised area of the running board where the half rounds will rest with rubbing alcohol. I know this won't prevent 100% scratches on the running boards, but it will help a lot and they look good.

Over all view.

Note on the outside of each running board side, I installed black 1" vinyl body side molding to help with door dings.

Thanks Mark

Thanks Gary. As far as sharing, I owe it to everyone as I've learned so much from all. As they say, it's a two way street.

Chris, yes I'm getting close. But I have a master cylinder issue and I'm going to replace it. So It will be a few more weeks (business travel).

Jrock... the issue was when I first depressed the brake peddle, it pretty much went to the floor, even when running (i.e., Vac to the prw assist.), I then had to manually pull the peddle back up. Then on the next peddle presses, it felt pretty good. Obviously, anytime a peddle goes to the floor, it's not good.

Air Compressor

Above, the Gauge and Switch installed in lower left side of center console.

Above, I installed the compressor behind the pass seat.

I've been very busy with my "real" job that the F1 has taken a back seat. I did get the air compressor and associated switch and gauge installed. I got the passenger door elec window and lock installed. Hopefully, soon, I get the door weather rubber and door cards completed soon. I also have to replace the master cylinder.... then It's on the road.

Stay tuned... Mark

1st Test Drive.... 2 videos

It was such a nice day yesterday.... I finished up the brakes and off I went. I took it out 1 mile and returned.... all good. Then my wife and I went out for a nice early diner.... put another 35 miles on it. It drove great at 70 to 80 and still have plenty of pull.

I wanted to upload the videos here, but couldn't figure out how. Any help here uploading videos?

Anyway, I put the 2 videos on youtube at the links below.

OUT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0bW...ature=youtu.be

Return: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnMF...ature=youtu.be

I'll sale this beauty for the right price. I still have door cards to make and that's it.

Stay tune.... Mark

Mark - Sure glad you sent the email about your 1st test drive. And, that you included a link to this thread. Haven't read it, yet, but I will - end to end. Two reasons. First, I want to see what you are doing. Second, my son Bret and I are going somewhat follow in your footsteps, but with a '50 Chevy pickup that we pulled from a field the day before Thanksgiving last year. And, oddly enough, I just got the call today that the title will soon be in my name after going through the lost-title process for the last several months.

And, just in case you want to read up on some of mine, most are up in the 80-86 section. I'm restomod'ing Dad's 1981 F150 4x4 with a full-roller 400, ZF5 tranny, and several other mods.

Anyway, I'll read up on your project in detail and will probably be asking questions. (You know how detailed I can be. )
