2009 V10 Cat back needed- give me suggestions

Well I have a 2009 F350 V10 with 130,000 miles on it. My exhaust is needing some work thanks to the wonderful road conditions around here. The weld going into the resonator rusted through and my muffler may not be far behind. keep in mind I have no desire to put a cat back system on it but it's the only logical choice. I thought about just removing the resonator and replacing it with straight pipe and replacing the muffler but it's actually a lot cheaper to do a cat-back system and I have no good exhaust shops within 2 hours of me anyway so I wanted some input.

I've had Banks exhaust systems on previous vehicles and loved them but now that I'm older I realize I don't want a loud exhaust, There are really no performance gains from what I've heard and nothing for MPG's no matter the brand. I do want to be sure to go stainless but other than that what would you suggest? Any reason not to get a cat back system?

I suspect a Borla would please you.

Hmm, never though of Borla. Been looking into Magnaflow and flowmaster but I'll check that out as well.

They seemed a bit loud from the reviews I've read. Like I said I liked the Banks in previous vehicles and it never seemed "loud" but maybe I was just younger and didn't care . I mainly use this truck to pull a horse trailer and obviously don't want anything too loud because of them as well but was always satisfied with the banks quality and don't want to worry about replacing it again in another few years. Maybe I'll get that and if it's too loud just swap the muffler for something quieter. Price isn't bad as I can get it direct from banks for under $450. I'll keep looking and keep the suggestions coming. Thanks all!

I would recommend the Flowmaster Force II system in stainless. The stainless will last longer and the included hardware is superior to the hardware that comes with the aluminized kits. It looks like they have a single exit in the stock location and a dual exit kit.

Does the Borla still have the million mile guarantee? Were the reviews saying it had a deep throaty sound?

here you go.................

the dynomax VT is awesome, I find myself at 53 liking quiet idle and cruise and when I punch it NOISE. My 2009 F350 v10. Great all around muffler, quiet when you want it, NO drone and punch it and it sounds awesome. You wont get a big boost in performance from any exhaust upgrades on these trucks but a slight one over the stock exhaust which flows very good(maybe 10-15hp). DONT go too big like a 4" diesel exhaust it will hurt the low end and your mileage, the factory 3" mandrel bent pipes dont need to be replaced. You will make the most torque out of a 3" single system, I wanted the duals look but realized it would be for looks only. With a 4.30 or better gear along with the 6 spd auto that they have now a huge exhaust would kick butt. They dont have that with the v10 except in the 650 750's.

Thanks for all the input. I did see that video before and the Dynomax VT looks like it might be a good option. I'll be replacing the whole exhaust so I wonder what the VT would sound like without the stock resonator on it as that's why I'm looking for a cat-back since my resonator is rusted off and the muffler isn't far behind.I haven't been able to find any clips of a Borla on a V10. I think I've narrowed it to the VT or the Banks at this point.

I would say any diesel 4" exhaust. Very affordable and can get it stainless as well. I run a magnaflow 4" on one of my trucks with a cat, and it sounds great and isn't too loud.
