I just purchased off ebay a used 272/292/312 double action fuel pump, the listing says its marked 4421D on the pump itself and I didnt see this number in the two photos but on one side there is an AC on it.
I wanted to ask if this fuel pump is proper for use on a '56 292?
I picked it up very cheap and wanted to ask before I go ordering a $70 overhaul kit for it.
There's a LOT of pumps that will fit a Y-block. I am not sure that it's worth it to rebuild one when you can buy a http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUEL-VACUUM-PUMP-FORD-292-312-352-1955-1956-1957-1958-1959-MERCURY-1955-1958-/231124275281?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35d0149051 for less though.....
Theres just one problem with the new manufacture pumps. They do not have a filter which means you now have to cut the rubber fuel hose or a fuel hard line and plumb in a filter inline.
I picked this one up for $14.99 for the pump $15 for shipping, then another $85 for the rebuild kit. On ebay rebuilt units that still has the sediment bowl and filter are going for over $200 which means rebuilding one I picked up on the cheap was actually saved me more money.
