AIS filter with a snorkel

Has anyone here modified an AIS intake to run it thru the snorkel?

i was going to get a S&B intake so i could still use my snorkel but the whole "hi flow" thing bothers me, it seems hi flow = less filtration.
I live out in the desert and dust is a big issue so i want the best filtration i can get.
This seems to be the AIS but i can't see it working with a snorkel.

Any suggestions?

Have you looked at just using the stock filter and putting a cleanable "pre-filter" over the snorkel head? Its something I've ran on all my vehicles, and the stock filter seems to last 4+ times as long.

I wouldn't be inclined to run any type of filter that isn't either the stock filter or the 6637 (with prefilter), or the AIS system.

Are you trying to have a completely sealed air box with a snorkle?
I have an AFe filter box and run the snorkle into the box, the filter is washable and has caused no problems with extra air flow.
The truck has been around Aus two times now and in some dusty areas as you know but just keep washing the filter out,

and it pays to carry a spare.

Hi Yowie, I saw a thread on the US forum where the AIS was modified to be plumbed in with a snorkel - they fabricated a foam tube from the fender hole, the tube ran into the end of the AIS.

Hey Blue7.3, out of curiosity, is that "airbox" waterproof?

No the snorkle is only there to supply cold air to the filter, it's a supplied air box from AFe they don't do fully sealed air boxes.

I have seen the same thing and I think that is the road I want to Go down.
We are looking at running a bigger version of these donaldson filters on our crushers at work so I mite ring the speak to the Donaldson rep on Monday and get his thoughts (and maybe a good deal) I reckon I will be able to make something up to water proof it and run it purely from the snorkel.
