Britain has still done a few of them up through 2012 Tim. Mostly in Afghanistan. Last one done by the US military has been korea.

It is Tim. Especially a full company of 120 men 3 ranks deep. Imagine a full regiment 3 ranks deep. That is a sight that scared many men on the battlefield back then.

 

Thats where the term Cold Steel came from.

 

That it is Tim. Although my unit does know what happens when you run out of 3 in 1 oil for the muskets and have ti use bacon grease to protect the muskets form rusting until you can clean them and oil them properly at home.

 

I bet the battlefield smells like eggs and bacon during volley fire!

 

Well it sure did smell like bacon Tim. We were making all of the other units hungry. We started to smell the bacon grease first and didnt say anything. Then the units around us started smelling it and kept asking who was cooking bacon. We drove them nuts the whole weekend before we told them what happened. The moral of the story. Always make sure there is extra oil in the cleaning kit so you dont have to make the other units hungry.

Afternoon fellas. Went up to the bird observation center today. It was at 6000'. Definitely need 4wd to get there.

 

Sounds like it was a good day Tim. We have a severe storm blowing through the area right now. Alot of lightning with it.

 

You know its bad when this is the name of the road.
