fuel leak front of engine

I need some information. I came out of work yesterday to a puddle under my truck. Tank was full. Smells like diesel. Drove the half hour home. Drove probably another hour. Its not leaking anymore. I have no idea where its coming from. All I know is its off the front of the engine. Runs down the center link and off my ball joint Lol. I can see one banjo bolt and its dry. Everything I can see around the filter housing is dry. I can't see the other banjo bolt. Are banjo bolts known to leak? What's the easiest way to get to the banjo bolt on drivers side to check it? And finally what is it usually that starts leaking Lol? 05 F250 with 185000 miles now. Thanks!

Fuel pressure regulator cover is a common leaker.

There's a thread in the Tech folder with repair info and part numbers.

Banjo

If it's not the regulator it could be a loose banjo fitting for the fuel rail.
Interested in what you find.

Had a leak last month. Turned out to be the passenger side fuel line was leaking. Right at the banjo fitting where it mates to the passenger head. The banjo fitting started to separate from the line. I can see how it failed.. There seems to be a boss to guide the line and the banjo was right against it. I guess it eventually vibrated loose. New line fixed it.

Alright thanks. I ended up having to run to New Jersey with it yesterday. Its still not leaking. But I know it will. How much do you have to take off to get the drivers side banjo bolt? Looks like its a pain.

Air cleaner and top radiator hose to make it as easy as possible. Regardless, it IS a real pain to get to that one banjo.

I found removing the stuff npccpartsman suggested and having swivel ratchet wrench worked the best for me. Yes that drivers side it a real pain

The line is tricky to get out as well, It snakes behind the thermostat neck between the block and the front cover of the engine. The 2 lines held in place by the clamp bolted to the block are the supply and return.

Remove the Air box, and the inter cooler pipe from the intake elbow to the driver side of inter cooler. The banjo bolt will be either above or below where the rad hose connects to the front cover of the engine. Its a 17 mm bolt. It might just need a snug or the line could be bad. Also check where the line connects to the filter housing. the line is connected to a steel fitting that that is threaded into the aluminum filter body. When i disassembled mine the fitting between the line and housing was loose. And i truck only had 50K on it. It could be leaking and running down the outside of the line to the banjo bolt then drip off there.
