I'm at the point on my build where I need to address the frame and suspension. Not sure what to do for the rear yet but I'm looking to put a crown vic front end in my truck. Any suggestions on what year to look for or stay away from? I have also noticed That the crown Vic front ends have engine mounts, does anyone know if these mounts will match up with a 302 block?

 

1979/2002 LTD/Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis have worm and roller steering.

2003/2011's have rack and pinion steering.

Crown Victoria name replaced LTD in 1982.

 

2003 and up have an aluminum crossmember.
No cutting of the frame involved, but there is a little fabrication and a bit of welding.

 

Thanks guys, this definitely seems like the way to go, but do you know if a 302 will fit on those motor mounts?

 

I'm sure someone has done it but the 302 is narrower than the 4.6. Sooo looks like you may need to make some sort of motor mount adapter.

Yes I am running a 302 on the stock square mounts. I used a donut mount on top and a 1/4" triangular mount on top bolted to the stock 302 mounting holes.

I think these mounts came from an early 90's 5. 0 Cougar but don't remember for sure. Yes, my shop sort of looks like a dumpster...
