EGT p/n: AC3Z-5J213-B sensor restricted by FMC

EGT p/n:AC3Z-5J213-B restricted by FMC<O</O

<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" align=center SIZE=1 width="100%" noShade>

Just got off the phone with my parts guy at Walker Ford in Clearwater, FL. He informed me that the p/n:AC3Z-5J213-B EGT (exhaust gas temperature sensor) for all 6.7L diesel engines has been put on the restricted list by FMC for dealer installation only. And no other dealer in Florida (or possibily USA) will sell one to an independant repair shop. The dealers are also out of stock on this part. I have a fleet with six of these 6.7L engines and now I have one out of service due to unavailibilty of the replacement part. Is anyone else out there running into this problem or just us in Florida? <O></O>

Typo corrected on part number.

Your posting prompted me to call Tousley. I already had been planning on replacing the other 3 sensors after my sensor failure back in July. Thanks for the reminder. I got the last two they had on hand at the moment. They told me on the phone they couldnt keep them in stock because they are selling so many.

I'm in Arizona and they have been slowly coming in. From what I know they have just been on back order so dealers have been reluctant to sell them from their own shop.

Ford has been trying to buy the two I have for over a week now.. I don't understand why Ford puts these trucks in limp mod when this part fails.

Well just dropped off one of our 6.4L vehicles into Walker Ford for its 3rd engine oil cooler within 30,000 miles. While I was there I checked back in with the parts department and they have zero 6.7L EGT sensors in stock and have no idea when more are coming in. At the suggestion of the service manager, I called the parts department at Gator Ford in Tampa. The parts department said they had a few left and he had to go upstairs for authorization to sell me one (and only one) at list cost. And they also have no idea when more are coming in. I would hate to be a patient riding in a Ford 6.7L ambulance right now, if you know what I mean!

There was actually a recall for 6.7 Chassis cab trucks designated for ambulance use to switch out the EGT14 sensor for the new improved -B version. While there are probably still some failures, I suspect that the updated sensor is more robust.

After reading this I decided to do a little research. The on-line parts dealer where I got the one I have in my emergency kit no longer even lists the sensor and many other parts dealers list it as "no longer available".

Hope I never need it but I'm glad I got one when I did!

Fuel sensor part # ac3z-5j213-b

F-350 lariat 6.7 2011
Date: 9/12/13 mileage 67,264
Problem: truck shuts down error safety message states " pull over safely" truck slows down loses power and shuts down won't restart. Restarts after 40-45 mins runs 3-5 miles shuts down.
Exhaust sensor is bad. It's supposed to read fuel temp in 100's gets a false reading of 1000's so shuts truck down for safety reasons. You can delete sensors, replace w dummy sensors, or replace sensors. There are total of 4 sensors. FORD REPLACED SENSOR #4 truck ran great. Sensor cost $50-65 labor $400 time at FORD 32 days RIDICULOUS
UPDATE
DATE: 10/8/14 mileage 158,765
Same truck - same problem 1 yr later
This time I purchased all 3 sensors from online price $40 each will replace other 3 assuming the 4th is good. Labor cost will be about $100.00 w mechanic I'm hearing it's fairly easy fix. Turn around time to do it about 4 days.
I read most places don't sale sensors to private parties only to dealerships which is true after searching however dealerships mark up cost almost to $70.00 and they take forever to fix it waiting list is 35 days MIDLAND TX. Labor is ridiculously high. I love my FORD TRUCKS I HAVE 3 diesels! I HATE FORD BS.
You can find these sensors online eBay and other places. If you must replace 1 of 4 you may as well replace all 4 to be safe. THIS IS A VERY VERY COMMON PROBLEM I advise you purchase few extra if possible.

Does anyone know if the same EGT sensor is used in the 2015's? I suspect so.

I ordered two Sunday evening 10-12-14 from AutoNation White Bear Lake Ford (Tousley) for $35.84 each. They shipped Monday 10-13-14. I had looked at a few other places and found them as well. I got a couple of replies that they were out of stock, and one reply that they had one that was already promised out, but that they would receive more by the end of this week. Perhaps whatever stalemate was going on has now been broken as they seem to be available with a little looking.
