door hinge mirror that isn't pot metal?
Seems like all the replacement stock mirrors are chromed cast pot metal. Anyone know of a different one?
Would love to find one made of stainless. I'm OK spending for a higher quality version.
Can anyone recommend one that isn't chinese / taiwanese made?
Was thinking of adding the Hagan mirror head to broaden my field of view. Anyone used one of those? comments?
Thank you,
Doug

I have a pair of these on my 52. Though nice only the head is stainless, the rest is chrome plated pot metal.
I have considered the same thing (stainless arms) and with the help of a friend think I can reproduce the arm and bracket in stainless. Will have to wait till next year when I complete the truck though.

Mirrors were discussed a while back in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...w-mirrors.html

I called C&G Ford. They sell two varieties, one chinese made and the other taiwanese, each pot metal. I don't think those are what I want, but may have to live with one.
I do plan to add a Hagan convex mirror head to the mirror to give myself more depth of field on the driver's side. On the passenger's side I bought a small wide-angle mirror I stuck on the bottom. It is corny but eliminates the blind spot when moving lanes to the right.
I noticed if I adjust my rear view mirror, I can see out in to the blind spot to my left quite well. My rear view is so small, I could probably add a bigger one and resolve the issue.
I like the stockers which attach to the hinge, but just hate the idea of more pot metal garbage.
Perhaps I can fabricate some from stainless. Hadn't actually considered that. Seems like some thin solid round bar would do nicely. I'm not used to doing complex curves though, that's for sure.

Hey Doug,
I must be asleep over here.... I've attached a fairly close up pic
of where we mounted our mirror - it's an inch or two below the little
vent windows.
I'm not sure I'm done with mirrors yet. These look nice but
giving you blind spot visibility - not so much. I'm still searching for the perfect door mirrors for this truck.

Hi Ben,
Thank you. I ordered the speedway motors unit suggested earlier in the thread. It actually got good reviews from those users 4 to 5 stars.
I probably will buy the Hagan mirror head or perhaps add a small bug-eye just to watch the blindspot.
I like the looks of yours! But would prefer not to drill through the paint and door, now.
Not sure if the Hagan head would fit yours?

I received the Speedway mirror. It is really nice quality. The chrome work is really nice, too. Where it was tapped for set screws, I could see brass exposed under the chrome. I suspect it might be brass vs. pot metal.
thumbs up from me. Will add a picture soon.
I might add the hagan mirror head to improve field of vision.
