F250 SD motor swap

How easy would it be to swap out an 02 5.4l triton for an 05 5.4? Any help is appreciated

I would think the 2005 5.4L would have addition wiring required. Maybe you could reinstall your 2002 heads on the 2005 block? Sorry I cant give you any real info, but I am interested about the compatibility of the 2v and 3v 5.4L engines as well.

Why would you want to? The 05 will have all those fun cam phazer issues to deal with. Also my guess is the trans wont bolt up either if you plan to keep the 4R100..

if you do the 05 you will need the ecm and motor harness to start....... the 05 motor is a 3 valve motor

If I were going to replace the PCM and engine harness I would go with the V10. It added 3V in '05 but never the VCT system.

My 02 5.4 has a junk bottom end and need to just put a new motor in .. I was wondering what other year motors would be compatible

2000 to 2004 would be your best bet.

have fun pulling the motor i just rebuild mine and it is a TIGHT. throttle body and intake must be removed otherwise there isnt enough room to get the oil pan over the cross member. If you decide to rebuild the motor youve got PM me and ill give you some pointers.
