This is going to get old.

A couple of months ago I had the problem where my truck wouldn't run after stopping for gas. Had to have it towed back to the dealer. The next day it started and ran fine. No codes. This morning when leaving for work it took about six tries to get it to start. You never know when or where this truck could leave you high and dry. If I had a do over I would take my old 2001 PSD back and fix it up. You can't depend on this new one.

fuel pump related?

When you turn the key does the fuel pump come on?

What about during the no start?

I went out and checked to see if you can hear the fuel pump run and you can if you turn the ignition on but not to start with the seat belt on and seat moved forward so you can hear it. If only runs until it builds pressure and then shuts off so listen close. If the next time it happens and the pump doesn't run bring it back to the dealer and tell him what you found, if they won't look at it call customer service.

It was hard to start first time again this morning. I'll try listening for the fuel pump first start tomorrow. I have an OTC scan tool where I could see fuel pressure but it's too old for this engine.

So I'm wondering if you got a tank of fuel with some water in it. It would explain the no start after fueling up and the hard starting sense then.

Something simple to look at is the fuel pump relay, the fuse and relay box is located under the hood on the left side next to the master cylinder. Remove the cover and make sure relay number 57 is plugged in all the way.

Is the truck cranking with no start or when you turn the key just nothing happens. My service f150 seems to be that I will turn the key and let go nothing happens then if I hold the key on it will start to crank after approx 1sec so I am wondering if its maybe the auto start key function on yours. (I don't know the proper name but you know how you only need to turn and let go of the ignition )maybe its acting up

It will crank for a few seconds after I turn the key. This morning I cycled the ignition several times listening for the fuel pump and then it started but idled rough for several seconds.Tomorrow I'll try starting it again with the first crank. Maybe It's losing prime in the fuel system overnight?

fuel pressure is what it sounds like to me. A bad fuel pump. Or a wire or something on the sending unit.
