Back is gone F3 has to go

Hi All as some of you know my back is shot to the point I'm loosing the feelings in my legs - makes walking very interesting to say the least- the neurosurgeon told my wife to take me to our horse vet and have me put down as there is nothing he can do for my back - therefore the 49 F3 has to go. I am the second owner it was a barn find on the last farm in Chicago Cook county Il. It has a 92 5.0EFI Mustang engine a world class T5 five speed and an 89 F250 rear end. 8 lug 17 inch American racing atlas wheels. A Jag XKS front end with 4 wheel disk brakes The bed has been widened by 5 inches and has new oak cross members and black cherry planks. The fenders have been done the floor is good. Jeep buckets in it. The A/C from the mustang is in it but not set up. The directional signals do not work but the emergency flashers do - makes no sense to me. The ebrake is not connected. Two speed electric fan on a switch keeps it cool. It is mostly primer paint (see avatar) If anyone is interested PM me - if I can sell it on the open market I'll try for around $6000 if someone on the forum wants it I'll let it go for $4700 - 5000 I really want it to go to someone that will enjoy it and maybe I'll be able to see it at a future Truckstock !!! Let me know if any one is interested - I'll try to add pics but they won't upload - this has happened to me before I'll try to work it out.

I would stay away from that Vet. I hope you can get some relief! If I didn't already have three old trucks...
Good luck with all of it.

Sure hate to hear that, Dave. Perhaps "air ride" suspension is in order.

Thanks guys. I can live with the pain but just don't trust the legs can work well enough to drive the old girl. I should have put an automatic in it and then maybe it would be ok. One good thing about it all is I've lost 50 pounds !!!!

Wow that is very sad, we don't realize how much we use our backs, and how fragile they are until something goes wrong. I take my wife to SF twice a year to have nerves burned (ablation) to help control the pain in her inoperable back. Around $50K a pop, thank goodness for insurance. I hope you are able to find some relief, nice truck by the way.

Thanks Jim. I would have my wife take me to the vet if I didn't have insurance as you say it's not cheap having a bad back

Thanks guys. Three different Docs all said too late. They could operate starting at lower backbone and work their way up by the time they did the top they would have to start over again at bottom. I knew this was coming for a long time so I'll live with it. I don't want to be unsafe on the road and the F3 is a cramped cab for a guy my size so moving the legs to the brake/clutch can be difficult because of lifting them so high. The S2000 has you stretched out so the foot movement is much easier. So the F3 goes and I have the S2000 for fun.
I've done the surgery and the shots in the back years ago they worked for a while but eventually not at all so gave them up. As the docs said it's not life threatening just a pain so I'll count my blessings and keep going. Thanks again I really do appreciate all the good wishes and prayers you all have sent my way. Dave S

Dave sorry to hear about the worsening back problems.

Is there a way you could have an automatic installed in the truck? I understand the limited room in the F-3's cab but just a thought.

Bob I looked at that every which way I could. I even checked out extending the cab. The big problem is it has zapped my strength to the point doing anything becomes a major task after thirty minutes or so. If I want to change a tire I need a breaker bar and pipe on the end of it to get the lugs off. Thank goodness for air tools as they have at least let me keep working on it for the last six months or so.
I can still enjoy looking at the old iron and talking about them so things are good

Really sorry for your situation Dave! No matter what they said, getting old is NOT all the fun they told us it would be! As all us baby boomers and genXers get older and live longer and develop all the maladies that brings, the shear number of us demanding relief is forcing the docs to take more notice and are coming up with new treatments and drugs every day, so don't give up! I'd recommend seeking out one of the top leading edge hospitals for your syndrome, and get a 4th or even 5th opinion. I'm about to start hyaluronic serum shots (sometimes referred to as the "chicken" shots.) for my osteoarthritis in my knees instead of steroid injections.
