New Torque converter came today, still havent made decision about what to do with the flexplate, new stock unit or billett? Anyone know what the stock torque rating on the flex plate?
Just because you want one I guess. If its a full time tractor puller maybe. You bought Banks, Great product but most expensive, I would believe, if you needed it they would sell it with the convertor.
got the aFe blade reinstalled the intercooler pipes and boots and new radiator, reinstalled the intercooler, installed the new bigger 6.0 transcooler, all the components put back on power steering, alternator, a/c compressor, belt. I'm so close to getting this bad boy back together after pulling the engine to change the timing cover. Next up got the core suppoort to get back in then the air intake, batteries, new late model super duty front grill and 2005 harley headlights. Then just exterior, had the rear bumper front off road bumper side steps and rear hitch gold color match line-x'd to match the gold body trim... looks amazing!
Looks good keep us post. How do you like that banks intake? Dose it have the round filter? I've been thinking about one of them instead of the S & B set up because how quite it sounded on another guys truck. Looks to be the same element inside but it is a little pricey.
my banks intake works just fine, it has an oval shape to the base of it. I needed to install a new timing cover because i had a constant coolant leak between the timing cover and water pump that i couldn't get sealed after multiple attempts. When i do a project i rebuild, replace or upgrade any part that i take off so that i don't have to do it again in the future. And as far as the bumper and steps go I needed to refinish or replace the bumper as it was really rusted, and by doing multiple parts at once i saved on the color matching fee with only paying for it once.
today I got bolts on banks billet torque converter torqued to flexplate and cover installed, installed remote oil bypass filter system, trans mount bolts back in and torqued, motor mounts torqued.
Got the core support in and brackets to the account condenser on... some other oddsand ends... then I got the truck running to check for leaks... had one loose trans line needed a little extra tightening and coolant coming out between the water pump ant timing cover... no gas or oil leaks... so took fan and fan shroud off drained all coolant back out and pulled the water pump.... I wish I would have put some permatex on that the first Time when i had the engine on the stand but I thought a new gasket an cover wouldn't need it.. :-/ to add insult to injury two of the bolts strpiped takin an extra hour to get off... why did they use metric 10.9 bolts for something that holds two aluminum parts together and only holds 18ft/lbs of torque... went and got some new bolts (metric. 8.8 not 10.9).. will install in am and carry on.. will update again soon.
Finally got it all back together and running after changing the timing cover, really happy with how the color matched line-x worked out, and the front 2010 grill an 2005 harley headlights. i think i have a turbo pedestal o-ring leaking :-/ looks wet under the turbo an oil dripping out of the check cover for the torque converter.
