First thing I would check is fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge..
I rented a tester and it showed no pressure. Even when I cranked the motor over. I listened by the filler to hear if pump was running. All I heard when ignition was turned on was a pressure sound then nothing. I'm stumped!!

If I remember correctly a 2000 will still have fuel pump relay, If you have no pressure than replace that first if you continue to have no pressure than its either a wiring issue going to the pump or you got a faulty replacement pump..
OK.so I'm starting to wonder.truck started up after I changed relay, turned it off for a min.tried it again and it took a bit to fire but did start.then left it sit for half hour not running and it started back up just fine.took it to restaurant to eat and came out and it wouldn't fire again. It took 4 tries, long tries mind you, for it to start.anyone got anything I need to try? Appreciate the help greatly.
I had a buick rendezvous. It would quit running so same as you I replaced the fuel pump in the tank. worked like a charm for a day or two then quit again. pulled the pump and exchanged it for another. Again it worked fine for a day or two and quit again, so I took that pump back and upgraded to a Delphi pump. Again it worked fine for a few days and quit. So I broke down and put it in the shop and they replaced the wiring connector on the harness going to the fuel pump and its been running like a new car ever since. Just a suggestion. Good luck!
