1999 F-350 Auto Shifter Lever
My shifter lever is extrmeley loose, it will not go into park at all.
I tightened the two torx bolts, adjusted the needle but its still bad. Im thinking the cable is loose, I saw that there is a small rod attached to the end. Is there a way to tighten it or do I need a new cable assy.?

Did you replace the shifter tube bushings? On top of the coloum there are 2 straps and black bushings that hold the shift tube to the coloum, they wear out all the time, when the cables go bad they lock up or get real stiff not loose. I would look into your shifter tube first. If your sitting in the truck engine off no keys and you grab the shifter and pull up and down does it move? If it does that your problem.

I purchased a new shift tube with bushings, I replaced it and that tightened up the action, however, the problem still remains. There is not enough throw to engage park.
I can push and pull the cable to engage the other gears but there is not enough to go all the way back. I assume tis is a cable issue unless somthing happened to the selecter on the tranny.
Any more ideas??
