97 zf5 grinding

I've got a 97 350cclb with a 5 speed and I've only had it for about 3 months. It's got 350,000 miles and I think the original tranny. When I try to downshift or go into gear from coasting it grinds. Especially with 3rd. It grinds when going into 3rd at 12mph. I need some opinions on what I should replace in order to get my truck shifting good.

I understand that the quite down after they break in lol. My truck does the same thing. The syncro a in it are on there way out or already gone. I double clutch when I shift. Some guys have had good success with amsoil syncromesh but I've never tried it.

FIRST thing to check is clutch actuation. Start with measuring the fork travel right at the end, while an assistant works the pedal. Should be at least 1/2" travel.

What fluid are you running in it, and how's the level?

I'd be amazed if it was the clutch. It's worth a look but being the gear most shifted through id say synchros. If it was hard to get into gear at a stop then definatly the clutch.

Yeah it's at the very end of the shift while going into gear, which I believe means it's the synchros
