I am going to up grade the tires that came with my 77 4x4. It came with 16.5'S. What do I need to know about bolt patern and size differences. I have done quite a bit to the engine. It is now running with396 HP about and 425 ft lb of torque. So Size doesn't matter. ( sorry NPI ), except for milage and speedometer reading. Sorry also 350 gears. I just want what would be comperable in todays numbers as to what was here in 77.

 

Well your profile says 77 F150, so if you have 16.5 rims that sounds odd to me. I always thought 16.5's were for F250's only?? And 15's were more common on a 1/2 ton.

I really doubt you can find any 16.5 tires that are cheap, other than 36", 37" military takeoffs.

Anyway a F150 1/2 ton is a 5 lug rim and the rim is described as a 5 on 5 1/2" and you can run 15's. But getting a rim that is for 16" tires should give you alot wider of options to buy tire wise.

There are tons of wheel and tire options out there, the options are almost overwhelming.

thanks for the info. I was told a set of 33s would work but on 16,s. When I put the new rear axle bearing on they were .0015 to small and had to go with ? muncie bearings that would fit. I am not sure know as it has been a 2 year frame off and I foolishly did not write all that has been done up to this point. I am now just finally back to rebuild. Thanks Again

 

As far as a set up that will work with a stock F150 4x4 truck, yes 33's should bolt on without a lift kit.

I would get the rest of the truck all back together and just use some shop rollers that way its still low enough to easily work on. And then go rim and tire shopping. Did you use that tire visualizer?

The red truck in his gallery is a regular cab F150 and has 5 lugs and stock rims.

You ever hear or see 16.5 rims for a 5 lug, I haven't till now.

 

yes, there are 5 lug 16.5 rims. that is why i asked.
they are hard to find, but they are out there.
i have also seen 8 lug 15 inch rims.

 

I have seen some aftermarket 5 lug 16.5 white spokes from Summit, but never see stock steel ones.

And yes I have to seen 8 lug (8 on 6 1/2) x 15 rims before, I would have to guess that are off set enough to fit the duel piston front end.

I have a set of 8 hole 15" alum slotted mags...just setting the the shed, that are like 7 and 8.5 wide.

 

I've got a soft spot for slots….

Thanks guys. I am just reporting what was on the truck when I bought it. This was originally a arizona truck. It has 350s front and rear gears and the front I want to say is a 50 and the rear is a 60. What I found strange like i've said before is that the rear axle itself was like .0025's larger than the standard axle so i rear axle bearings for a muncie axle. ????? But I will probably go with the 33's But unsure of the wheels. If it weren't a 4x4 I would deffinetly go with some moonies I am partial to that mirror look.
