77 f150 4x4 build

well finally been working on my old truck
guess first off a little history. My dad bought the truck new had 351m c6 3.50 gears and a track loc in the back the auto was pretty much the only option being as that he installed ac Later added the trim down the side of the dent when it got repainted in the early 80s. Then in 94 i got my license and got to drive this some when he didn't need it (was looking a little rough by then) Christmas of 95 we painted it red (was originally silver) so i had a nice truck to drive my senior year. jump to 04 he finally agreed to sell it to me and i used it as a work truck till bout 3 years ago when the engine got too tired to do much any more and parked it with un known plans

so now finally working on it will have prob 2" lift in front and a 4.6l 4vlave and a m5r2 5 speed just gonna be a fun truck now

Looks like a fun project!

That 4v motor will help it move pretty well.

What are your plans for transmission/transfer case?

keep the photos coming.

current plans are the m50d thats bolted to it now with the original 205 tcase if it gives trouble ill look for a zf5 but i like the gearing of the m5 better for a toy truck and it will have 4.10 gears when im done
and this prob will be a slow process took 2 months to get here with only bout 10 actual hours of work

Love the fact that it's becoming more popular for people to repower these trucks with modern engines. Excited to watch the progress.

Looks like you have a good project ahead of you. Aside from the drivetrain, do you have any other plans for it?

tore completely down paint and refurb chassis. Then start on the body . I like the red but also like the original silver so undecided on that yet? but will have power windows and door locks maybe a newer cluster grafted in dash.
already has bucket seats from early 90s exporler with a 94 ish f series center console. They prob will be recovered before it goes back together.
and prob 17" rims with 285-70 tires think that covers most of it

Mine is a 4x4. Almost too nice of a truck to do it to but, cannot resist the temptation of a much better running truck. I'll post some pics in a different thread so I do not hijack yours.

haven't made very much progress lately. The engine mounts are built out of another set of 351m stands that I cut up. the new trans mount is almost done due to the trans being 4 1/2 " longer than the c6 . I ended up setting the engine bout 2" forward but since its so much shorter of an engine there still is alot of room between eng and radiator.
but unlucky for me without a body lift the brake booster hits the valve cover have a 3/4" spacer in body for now prob gonna try a different booster but also have a hydro boost from a mustang that may go on.
then its time to completely strip frame for blasting and paint then start the actual build
