Mike,
It's coming along nicely! I went with the same brand of gauges too, they work really nicely. I got the more factory looking set up with the 4 in 1 and speedo with integrated tach on the other side. The wheels look nice! What are your plans for paint and body?

I was talking to my buddy who has done many many paint jobs/collision repair etc. I was telling him what you told me. Apparently he is very familiar with the rope seal style. I guess they had some older vehicles in college for students to remove/install as part of the requirements for credit. He will be helping me.

Thanks. The body is going to be As-Is for now. My plans were to go the opposite route as my 69 Mustang, "very cheap".

I wanted the truck to look like is pretty much just got it running and didn't do much to it. Then when you pop the hood and realize its a 4.6L mod engine with other hidden mods and scratch your head haha.

Eventually I would consider painting it but I cant really decide on a color for it.

Got my windshield in.....

But I broke it. F#ck.

I was applying downward pressure seating the lower edge and gradually applying pressure to seat the windshield in the frame. I was outside the cab and my helper was inside seating the seal/pulling the rope.

I did not realize that in the process of placing the glass/seal in, that a seal retainer tab on the cab bent and caused the glass to sit higher. While I was applying pressure down and inward the top tab on the passenger side caused enough resistance to split the glass strait down from the roofline to the cowl.

So I F'ed myself out of the $120 for the glass. Great learning experience though. I will do it again and pay more attention to the clips next time.

That sucks!
If you are talking about the 4 metal tabs in the window opening (two on top two on bottom) I already cut them out based on others recommendations. Sounds like they are not needed.

I spent a little time yesterday getting everything lined up on the front end for the install of my new headlights/parking lights and body panels. I got to the point of installing the bulbs and realized that I am missing the adjuster nuts (I have 4 brand new screws, 2 for each head light)

Does anyone know where to pick these up? I might have missed them but I haven't seen them in any parts catalog.

I also modified my Foxbody Mustang pedals to accept me stock style pedal pads. I think it looks pretty slick.

Lastly, I have my 900 series turn signal installed. Looks very fitting for the build.

Yes remove them including the base. Sorry, don't look at it as a mistake, just as practice!

Lol, yea. My buddy was way more upset than myself. I told him it would've cost me the same to pay someone to install it and I wouldn't have gotten the experience.

I think I might go with the tinted top for the next windshield for the re-replacement.

I suspect Ford assembly line had a tool that hooked over the tab, lifted and hooked the weatherstripping in place so 1 person could install it?

If they did, I would love to see it. I can imagine trying to work those into the frame day in/day out without some sort of tool

Another pickle I ran into this week was my ignition switch. I have a new lock cylinder, I removed the ignition with the intentions of replacing the lock cyl due to a missing key. Just looking at my lock cyl, it appears to be a different shape than what will fit in the ignition. I was not able to remove my old lock cyl (ran out of time). Is there a way to remove the old lock cyl without a key?

I really don't want to source a replacement ignition. Locksmiths around here seem pretty weary of trying to make me a key for my original

Anyone, on the ignition?

I just found the headlight adjusters on LMC for $1.95 each (x4) plus the S&H.

Is this the original 51 ignition switch? If so, after it is out of the dash, there is a slot with a pin in the body of the switch. Push in the pin and the tumbler should come out.

Here is a 48-50 ignition switch but it is the same idea as the 51. (51 is installed in Fred)
