radiator cooling fan wobbles

I have a 1983 F150 4X4 with a 351W that came out of a 1985 Bronco. I replaced the water pump today and now the fan wobbles. There are four bolts that hold the fan to the water pump. Is it a matter of loosening those four bolts and slightly moving them until the fan doesn't wobble? The fan will not move when I grab it with the engine off, the truck runs with the temp right in the middle of normal, no abnormal sounds, I just see the fan wobbling with the engine running. Will this movement eventually mess up the Flowkooler water pump I just spent a hundred bucks on? Thanks for any help you guys can give me on this issue.

Did it wobble with the old pump? take the fan back off and spin the pump by hand and make sure the shaft on the water pump wasn't bent in shipping/handling.

So you have a rigid fan and not a fan clutch? First thing I thought when I saw wobbly fan was failed fan clutch. Whatever it is, wobbly fan needs to be fixed or the vibration will mess up the new pump.

I do have a fan clutch and it did not wobble before. I will take the fan off later today and see if the water pump was damaged in shipment. If not my next step is a new fan clutch, right? I'm not driving the truck until I fix this. Thanks for the help guys!

Does your belt pulley run true?
It could be that you just have a bent blade.
But you say you can't turn the fan with the engine off.
This is likely a failed fan clutch.
Who knows what the PO has messed with.

If you have a fan clutch and can't turn the fan with the engine off it must be broken.

In fact, there is a wrong way to lay them on the ground when they are not installed. Is it possible it may have set wrong side up for a while causing its failure?

i'm sorry, I have to clarify what I mean when I say the fan won't move with the engine off. The fan will spin, it doesn't move front to back like it's loose. I took the fan and fan clutch off last night and will replace the clutch later today. I will post the result when I'm done.
