The 70 gas tank is the best option since it is 22 gallons.

I don't know about that. Hopefully someone else will chime in that's used a different year. I can tell you what I see in my Ford fische. The 1970 specific (non-evap emmissions) was the only one 22 gallons. DOZZ9002A. The rest were less gas.65/68 was 16 gallons. 69 was 20 gallons. So was 70 with emmisions. And finally so was 71/72.

22 gal is the max capacity in an early Mustang tank option. This is my install. Use your own discretion.

I saw your post that's an impressive install. Local CL has a 68 for $50 that's what led to the question.

32 5/8" wide? Is that including the flange where the 2 halfs are pinch welded together? Any idea on what the 16 gallon and 20 gallon tanks dimensions. Looking at options for one of my projects.

I got mine from Kentucky Mustang. Their website lists the capacities and dimensions of each tank.

The top section that sticks up above the flange on the 22 gal. is where the extra capacity comes in. The tanks with less capacity are flat on top.
