Like kw5413, I'll post what I just posted in the Club...

THAT'S true. And a fitting epitaph.

Didn't meet him personally.....But. Well....He's just one of the guys here EVERYONE knows.......and respects.

You'll be missed, Steve. I know I was a pain in the *** sometimes, but hey. You accepted us, warts and all........RIP.

(and yes.....57 is WAY too young)

And I'll steal a quote from City Slickers, do a slight edit....and hopefully Steve appreciates it....

"Lord, we give you Steve. Try not to **** him off"

RIP, Old Cob......You'll be missed around here.....

Here's a pic of Steve at the Boise NHRDA National Finals. During the road trip back from ID, I was leading and had missed a turn on the interstate. He called after several miles had passed by, knowing we were headed the wrong direction, and asked, "Where are we going?". I replied, " I don't know." With a chuckle he says," Cool".

I'm truely sorry to hear this, I used to chat with Steve years ago until my computer broke, we even met up for coffee once, a real nice guy.
My condolences to his friends and family.

Wow... I feel really cheated now. I never had the opportunity to meet this great guy. My heart sank as I learned of his passing. My condolences and prayers go out to his family. R.I.P. Steve.

Steve was gracious enough to let the dyno operator "borrow" his truck during a SoCaps event that many of us here attended. I'll never forget the look on his face during the pull. Always a good sport, he'd do whatever it took, and was a true enthusiast in every sense of the word.

Sooo what kind of numbers did the truck throw down?

I believe this is the oldest photo I have of Steve. At the F100 Nationals, June 2008.

Here is one from a shooting G2G in August 2009. Warming up for Dove season a couple of weeks later.

He showed us proper form, leading with his left, and generally how it should be done.

And this is from the last time I was with Steve, at the Tehachapi Loop, just a few weeks ago. Wish I had given him a hug at the time.

I read through all the pages up to this point, my heart is heavy with sadness. Many of us here are in the same age bracket, you know that hits us hard. Steve was a great man, shoes to big to ever be filled.
My deepest condolences to Gail and family.

He's in his sandals. Imagine that.

One thing he hated about racing, was that they made him wear regular shoes.

In Tucson with the group.
