Those jugs look like they have a much larger cap.

But, the link was a good one for me, so I just ordered 3. Can tell you in a few days.

I keep 3 2.5 gal jugs, and a 1 gal. with me when traveling.. I always look for them in the trash.. People buy them, dump them and throw them away.. I fish 'em out, fill them up at the truck stop and keep them "just in case".. Pretty easy to find sitting in the gas station trash cans.. Yes I know.. I'm a redneck..

I have never used the motorcraft DEF.. Always the blue brand or the stuff from the truck stop.. Never a problem...

The nozzle has to seat in the fill spout correctly though.

In my experience that Ford spout for DEF does not stop when full. Most of the times it overspills and I am careful. I liked it better when Ford had the smaller jugs too rather than the big one. Too cumbersome and awkward.

It stops

when the jug is empty, your feet are wet and the side of the truck starts to get white crystals growing.

TerraCair bottles work with the Ford spout. I left the air flow valve sealed. No muss, no fuss. Stopped at 2 gallons. No spillage. And Menards carries the TerraCair. I picked it up on sale for 8.99 2.5 gallons. Probably still cheaper at Pilot, but I don't spend the diesel to go there.

The Ford spout I use stops just fine... if I pay attention and seat it correctly in the fill hole.

But I got to say... Man some of y'all are hoarders I don't use a jug of DEF fast enough to stockpile it like y'all... even hauling my TT I get around 5K miles between 2 1/2 gallon jugs...

Scott,

Given your DEF use, do you do much stop and go, or short trip driving with your truck?

the Ford spout stops when it's full. all you have to do is make sure that it's seated correctly.

go to Ford and get the PM-27 GAL. that's the 1 gallon jug of DEF. it's much easier to pour if you can stock pile a couple of those jugs.

I buy my DEF at my dealer due to it being the same price as the Blue..I went through almost 2 gallons on my 1100 mile round trip to the beach a couple of weeks ago. Like others have pointed out, the spout should work without incident if it is seated properly.

Bought my Def at Sam's Club. I didn't have any problems with the nozzle supplied with the Blue Def.

Not sure I'd want to save def too long - would think it has a shelf life.... if you are using thrown away bottles, what if some contamination gets in there ?

Not worth chancing it on MY $10K engine

I just go to a bulk def pump and for 5 minutes and $2.79 / gallon it's done !

DEF does have a shelf life and it is shorter in hotter temps.

I don't reuse the bottles myself. I do reuse the ford spout. I rinse in fresh water after use and then seal it up in a Ziploc.

I would assume you can do the same with the jugs as you still have the sealed lids it comes with.
