Rebuild kit (or parts) for 332 Needed

We pulled the 332 out of our 1957 F-800 for a rebuild, but the machine shop tells me they cannot find a rebuilt kit to rebuild the engine. Does anyone know of a good source for these parts?

Thanks,

Brian

Found this on a quick google search

FORD TRUCK ENGINE PARTS

I have no experience with them at all. My machine shop got all my parts for my 223 when I had them rebuild it.

You may have better luck if they just check for the parts needed. Many do not catalog "complete rebuild kit" for uncommon engines such as the 332. Look for things such as gasket kit for engine rebuild, main bearing inserts, rod bearing inserts, cam bearings, piston rings, and so on.

Part of the "fun" of working on old, long obsolete stuff.

About your only choice is to buy the parts individually NOS...if they can be found. I doubt that anyone offers a kit.

C3TZ-6008-C .. 302/332 Engine Overhaul Gasket Set / Obsolete

SOEBY MOTOR CO. in Walhalla ND has 1 = 701-549-3711 (Soeby may be cheaper than the following sources).

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has 1 = 607-722-5371.

MCDONALD OBSOLETE PARTS CO. in Rockford IN has 1 = 812-359-4965.

FREESE MOTORS in Monticello IA has 2 = 319-465-3541.

KLIMESH MOTOR SALES in Calmar IA has 4 = 563-562-3241.

What size rod and main bearings do you need? What other parts do you need?

Isn't this a rehash of a thread from last year? 332 is same block as a 368 lincoln. The 332 and 368 have same crank dimensions, but 332 crank is drop forged. I picked up main and connecting rod bearings from a guy over on the HAMB site. EBAY has some stuff also. Try looking up a licoln gasket set.

Thanks for the tips. I too found the Kanter website and thought I hit the jackpot. I gave the information to the machine shop and they called me back a couple of days later to tell me that Kanter did not have the parts they needed. I will pass along the other places suggested. If anyone has any other ideas, please pass them along.

Thanks,

Brian

My machine shop is telling me that the 332 we have is the heavy duty version with the 3.8" bore. They said that Kanter has parts for the 4" bore, which won't work because it is not the heavy duty version of this engine. I'm in way over my head here as I thought the 332 engines in the trucks were all the same, but I guess there is a difference. If anyone can help me figure this out, I would appreciate it.

They are probably confusing the car 332 for the truck 332. Ford had 332/352 car block. Again, your block is based off the 317/341/368 lincoln block. Don't know if 368 pistons have same deck height as 332. If they do, bore the engine to 368 dimensions and put it together. The crank is same dimension as 368. Kanter should have those bearings. Your heads will have smaller valves, and they should be sodium filled.
Look up 368 on an internet search. You'll end up at Mummert machine. He is the Y-block guru. He does have some info about lincoln y-blocks

I was just on Ebay. Main bearings, cam bearings, connecting rod bearings. Ring sets from a company called PR 39 automotive parts from Auburn Hills Mich lists piston ring sets.

If the cam bearings spun in the block you may have major problems. Is that the reason you need a cam and the bearings? 332 cam runs backwards cause of gear drive. Oil to rockers comes from the cam bearing. If the bearing turned in the block you lose oiling to upper part of motor.
If you want to talk to a lincoln y block guru, go over to the HAMB website and join the y block builders forum. Then look up prostocktom. He build racing engines from these blocks. If anyone can help you its him. Otherwise I'd look for another machine shop to deal with. Preferably one that deals in industrial equipment.
Iskedirian used to regrind cams. Some boat motors run backwards, find a boat motor builder to find a cam grinder.

I need a Lincoln Y block 332 or a 302 steel crank and the 4 barrel manifold out of the HD truck F7or F8. Would consider purchasing whole motor.

Thank you. Elgin Boy
