Nose is apart and off the truck, found some pretty interesting hardware here and there..looks like as long as it would work it was used. Almost nothing saved, all cut off and junked. This was midway through.
Jag rolled back under to mark the frame for clean up, I am still amazed how easily the jag fits these frames.

Jag is in! Set in place same as my first build (see that build for detailed measurement pics), welded on the outside edges, inside frame heated and bent down meet the jag crossmember.
fully welded in both sides
sanity check, frame level and jag crossmember level.
welded up front
This area I make a filler piece and weld up but not until the frame is upside down.
Next is the front sway bar mounts. A neat thing about this is one of the sway bar mounting bolts lines up with this rivet so it makes the install easy.
Rivet out, jag sway bar pad bolted up to the frame. Mark the 2nd hole and drill it in the frame.
Front crossmember welded to the frame and a nut welded to the crossmember. Rear nut I weld to a piece of 1/8" plate which is welded to the frame, there is a lot of stress on the bar so this helps stiffen up the area.
Next will be boxing the front rails.

Hey Dave,
Love your pics/tutorial. For some of us who aren't as familiar with the Jag set up - It comes with a stock sway bar & that's what you are installing? Or is it an after market one? I love how you say there wasn't as much rust on this one..... Looks plenty rusty to me.

This uses the factory XJ6 front sway bar that comes with the IFS. Not huge by todays standards but will work fine for the truck. I believe the aftermarket has larger diameter bars for the jag if someone wanted one.
This truck is unbelievely solid and rot free..lot of rust? It is a Texas truck!

So this morning it was time to box the front rails. Once again I went low buck and made the plates from some frame cuts I had around, I think these were 55 packard. Heavy stuff, 1/8" or better, and free
Welded in
Doors on this truck were stuck shut, latches are stuck. Popped the drivers door open from the jam area and found a few things inside! Time for the shop vac.
All cleaned up, floors look good, only saw some pinholes on the passenger side. This is like a new cab compared to my other truck.
Original tank is there but I assume it is junk. No way am I going to attempt using it with fuel injection.

It is an oil filter cannister similar to what the flathead used. I found some misc engine parts in the cab so looks like the original engine was torn down at some time.
Now that you mentioned it that is pretty funny how I prioritize my work! I need the chassis in paint before winter so the truck will be ready to drive in the spring, so I want to get as much chassis fab work done as possible now.
