Turbo issues on 2008 F250 6.4L Diesel
I just bought a used truck down in Dallas, 2008 F250 6.4L with 97k miles and 4400 hours on the engine. Which is a bit high on idle so I think that might be part if the cause of my problems. I bought it for $9,400 with some dents on the sides but a work truck so I don't mind. I drove from Dallas to Chicago area and I heard a noise about 500 miles into the trip. I thought I blew a tire so I pulled over but tire is fine. I'm thinking maybe i hit something so I get back driving. Well real significant loss of power and turbo has no PSI. No CEL right away but very big difference in driving, it's like I'm driving a fully loaded moving truck on medium hills. It's not until a few hours later that I turn truck off to get fuel that the CEL comes on. I just got the codes read, P2463, P0401, P2262. All of them seem to point to the EGR system and turbo problems. I've done some more research and I don't know if its the up or down pipes or the turbo itself. I'm hesitant to take it to the dealer and spend a couple grand on replacing everything. My goal with this truck is to use it for my moving company to tow around 10,000 lbs combined trailer and household goods local and long distance, but not all the time, I will still use it some on jobs where the customer has their own truck. Can anyone give me advice on a direction to go for repairs? Tests or things to figure out where the problem is? Also I can smell exhaust in the cab when idling or in town driving, can't smell it on the highway because it blows out too fast I guess.

Do a search in the 6.4 forum, many related threads on this issue. First thing I would do is check the rubber connecters for the pipes for the turbo cooler. You could have just blown one partially off or cracked one and your loosing all your pressure there.
Try to keep your engine related post to the 6.4 forum, you'll get faster replies, and welcome aboard.

The small dealer I bought it from had the radiator replaced by a mechanic down in Dallas. Also the oil cooler seemed to be having issues so he also replaced the sensor/thermostat before I bought it. I wonder if the valve got cracked and broke during this process. Replacing it is beyond my capabilities i think so I will probably have to find a diesel mechanic to look at it.

Senix, you are spot one, i had blown a hose loose from the cold intake (according to the guy who fixed it). I inspected all the hoses and attachments to the turbo myself and simply overlooked the one closer to the front of the engine. While I was at the place the guy recommended doing an EGR delete, what's your guys' advice on that?
