Plasti-dip the truck?

I recently became aware of a product called plasti-dip that is a rubber like paint that people are using to spray their vehicles. Its an interesting concept because you can get enough 4/5 gallons for about 60 a gallon on ebay.

Change the color/look of your truck then peel it off whenever you tire of it.

Anyone on the forum done their truck?

I'd like to know how much this would cost to do a regular cab. Just the cab.
Let me know if you find out prices man, I'm interested too!

It's $60 a gallon....can't imagine just the cab taking more than 2 gallons and borrowing/renting a sprayer.

Here is a 'how to' video

And here is hungry kid showing how to peel it off...

I saw a Chrysler 300 done in shiny mirror silver. Looked good from a distance but up close it looked like a decal, not bad really just obvious it was some sort of peel off stuff. Sure would be great to prevent door dings.

Since it's so easy to peel, I would try to do the tailgate only and see how it fares in the real world.

I see a lot of people doing their wheels with it, and I've seen a few whole cars done too.

I think good prep work really helps you get a nice finished product.

I did my wheels. I love the stuff. A good plasti-dip paint job should cost $300-500 with several coats. Knowing that, if you are willing to drop $300 on a paint job that might fail, go for it.

The stuff is crazy easy to apply, is durable and comes off great. I love the stuff. If I ever wanted to paint my truck, this would be the way I would go.

I've done it to the wheels on my Truck and my Jeep. It holds up like a champ, Jeep wheels were done last Summer.

Then again, there is a big difference trying to stick it to paint, as opposed to a wheel, so I dont know. never done a whole vehicle. Did my grill also.

Anybody ever try this on an rv front cap. My fiberglass cap on the 5er could use some fresh paint. Wonder if it would work on fiberglass

What's to keep some kid in a parking lot from standing there and peeling off your $300 "paint" job?

This stuff is cool. Would be good on the front of the hood and aft of the wheels. Can you add color to it to match the color of the vehicle?

Lowes has a rattle-can of clear gloss Plasti Dip for 8 bucks. I'd be willing to redo the coating on my wheels as an experiment.
