Where are you guys getting the front fender mounting brackets?

Getting a re-pop support itself is easy many places offer them but so far no luck sourcing the fender mount brackets that go on each end of it.

Item number "5" in the below image (Ford part numbers 16C198 and 16C199)



Putting new rad support in my snow plow truck, those fender mounts while not completely rotted away like its rad support was I'd like to replace them if re-pops are available and at a reasonable cost.

They do come up in search using the part numbers but image shows they are not the correct brackets for model year.

 

16C198/99 are basic part numbers for all R&L fender brackets.

You need the year & model prefix and the engineering revision suffix.
What year is your truck?

I'm going to assume E7TB ('87 truck body) or F2TB ('92 truck body) is the prefix because the corner lamps changed in those years, but maybe these parts were carried over from earlier.

I'm sorry but I have no way to read my master parts catalog on CD.
Guess I need to need to get myself a USB optical drive.

 

Doing my 2nd one of these right now. My bracket was kinked and bent from previous owner accident. I just went to bone yard and got another, lot of labor for a small part. Whoever designed this front end must have had a brother in law in the bolt and clip business. Those lower frame to support bolts are a real picnic here in the rust belt.

 

Wasn't aware of that, I usually tend to avoid Ford parts whenever possible!

It is a 94 thought the image provided that info but yea regardless I should have mentioned it in my post anyway, (put my sig back up).

I'm sure NumberDummy (Bill) could give you the complete part number for a '94 truck.
This older parts numbering system is worlds easier to understand than the new (Global?) one!

 

Yea no kidding gonna need a bucket full of new clips to put it back together!

Actually I was supprised how many bolts came out without snapping off when consider the amount of rust it suffers from here and there front fenders nearly gone.

Some bolt heads rusted away to point no socket ever get on them but only a couple of them needed be cut.

I'll get new clips/bolts to put it back together anyway rather then reuse what it had. Keep saying it "its going to plow one more year", the 97' I bought coupe months back will take its place but not until I've had time to strip it down make it more impervious to conditions they must endure to do the job.

Was hopping for low cost replacements as very little chance of finding brackets at a bone yard better than the ones on it now. I looked at a couple and yea very little gain compared to time spent needed just to remove them, marginally better condition wise about it.

Mostly the bottom area of em got it, all there but tad thiner now, I'll sand blast prime paint call it good.

I bought new fenders for the 97 so I'm taking its fenders for the 94, little rust but not bad should clean up good enough for it. Will allow me put the computer back down in its slot where it goes!

Truck is red and gray but painted the color of the 97' as I needed paint for its fenders and tailgate anyway. Works out nicely if need take it later on too, doubt it but already the correct color if do so.




The Lil' 4x4 seen in the pictures, its my hunting ride that goes beyond where big 4x4 does not.

It got new front hub seals a ball joint and a cv boot, its ready for upcoming hunt season.





Front fender brackets, not as bad as they look but rough yes. I'll drop em off around the corner get them sand blasted, go from there (should be something left of them....hopefully)




Waiting for couple more parts to arrive, support mounts/bolts.
I really expected to find the support brackets on the frame to be rotted to a round hole, need the repair slugs. The six sided hole is fully intact both sides.




What was left of the support in the picture minus a very small piece still bolted to the frame at the bolt, the thick U shaped section remainder was gone.

 

Wow that was really bad. Sad that there are all ending up like that around here and they are nice driving trucks. Good luck with the project.
