how do i identify what type/kind of trans is in my truck
hello, new poster/member here I had my transmission changed a while back, and im pretty positive its not the same type that was factory in it, and was wondering if theres a way to correctly identify what type it is, such as numbers, digits of some kind. from looking up at the bottom of it I see a number 33 on the bottom of the trans housing, and on the bottom of the pan it says "METRIC", "FORD", and an "S". any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

'99 F150, right? What engine?
Why do you think they changed to a different trans model? That is pretty hard to do in your year truck.
Not sure, but the possibles seem to be 4R70W or 4R100.

C-6 tranny
New poster here too. I just bought a 1977 F-250 Ranger XLT 4X4 hiboy, highboy, highrider, whatever. I just put in a re-mfg. 351M and now need to put in a C-6 tranny. Can anyone tell me what C-6 tranny came in this truck from the Mfg.? Being asked too many questions as to what C-6 do I have. I am assuming I have the original tranny. Many thanks, Bucknaked

You need a 4x4 model that will fit the 351M bell pattern. Did you not get a transmission with the truck?
As for the specific part number for the original trans, can't help you there, but you can have that looked up. Who is asking you the questions about the trans?
The 351m bell is the same as the 400 and the 429/460.
You must get a 4x4 model or you will have to tear it down and swap the tail shaft and housing, effectively making you buy two transmissions.
Do you have any transmission components with the truck?

Post a separate thread about your issue, describing in as much detail as possible in order to get good replies. Tacking an off-topic question onto another issue tends to have it bypassed or ignored.
