touble starting any ideas?

So i have my dads 89 F150 with the 4.9l Straight 6 not very good mechanicly so help? . I ran out of gas trying to stretch to paycheck. I now have both tanks full but am not getting any gas and it takes a few tries of pumping the gas to get it going. have replaced fuel filter and determined fuel pump is working but probablem persists. Has been suggested i should clean the Mass Airflow Sensor and told some of these sensors have a coating on the wire requiring a specific cleaner? What type of cleaner do i need also any other suggestion or advice would be appreciated

Your truck does not have a MAF sensor. Your truck uses a Manifold Absolute Pressure ( MAP ) sensor, no cleaning require.

Since the problem happens on both tanks the cause may be a weak high pressure pump. I suggest to rent a fuel pressure tester to verify the pressure and see how fast it bleeds off after shutting it off.
