MII power steering problem
While parking yesterday my steering wheel started oscillating back a forth in small increments, becoming hard to turn. and when I let go and stopped moving, it continued for a short time. When I got out on the road on the way home it felt really good. I thought maybe it had burped an air bubble or something, but when I got home and was parking again it started doing the same thing.
I jacked the front end up and went through the recommended air bleeding procedure but it didn't help.
Has anybody else encountered this problem?

If you are using mismatched parts like a ford rack and chevy pump, you might have a pressure mismatch too. Right off hand I can't think of anything else that would cause the un commanded cycling.
They do sell pressure relief valves to match different pump / rack combinations.
Good luck and keep us informed as the final cause.

This is a follow up on my steering problem. I decided the cheapest way for me to trouble shoot whether it was the pump or the rack, was to replace the pump with a rebuilt one. I tried ordering on from Oreilly's for $45 but it wouldn't match my fittings. I returned it and found a F.R. pump. A variable pressure low flow from Jegs just like the one I have, for $193. Just put it in today and Voila! power steering has never worked this good before. I glad it wasn't the rack and pinion.
