39.5x15x15 Lift Suggestions

I'm wanting to run some 39.5x15x15 TSL's on my 78 f150 4x4. Would like some clearance, don't exactly want the tire too tucked up in the wheel well. Also I'd like it to be all suspension lift. Not sure if a 6" would do it or if I'd be better off with a 9". Also if anyone has any pics that would be great! Thanks in advance

Your dana 44 front end is going to hate having 39.5 inch tires, let alone ones that are 15 inches wide. I think you'd be better off swapping your front end to a dana 60 or something like that.

But, to answer your question, it would be a little cozy with a 6" lift and you might get some tire rub on tight turns. I think a 9" lift would be better for that large of a tire.

Ran 44's on 12" with nice clearance. I would think 9" would be ok.

I ran 36's on my 79 with no lift, other than body lift. Ran it hard and had no mercy . Only time it rubbed was in really off camber and tight turns. Wheel selection for off set is important.

I planned on using a Mickey Thompson classic lll 15x12. Either that or a 38x12.5 on a 15x10 classic lll.

I'm actually debating between 3 sizes. A 38x12.5, 38.5x16, and a 39.5x15. All bias TSL's

I ran 35/15.5/15 on 15x12 Mickey Thompson CLassic IIs. After I lowered my truck because I swapped to half ton up running gear. Had 6" of lift with plenty of clearance and no rubbing no matter where I went.

My 78 bronco had 39.5x18x15 on it with 4" suspension and a 3" body lift. Slight rub at full lock

At what point is the dana 60 necessary up front? The truck will be mostly street driven but evry once in a while will be taken in the mud or probably pull out some stuck trucks. Im sure it will get beat on pretty good. The truck will have a NP435 and a pretty healthy big block 500-600hp. Could you build the dana 44 and 9 inch to handle that power and 38s or 39s or would I just be better off going with 2 dana 60s from a f250?

That kind of power and beating on it, I would just go Dana 60's or a Dana 60 and a Sterling 10.25

you dont need a 60 up front with what you have, i have had 6 of these trucks and all had a 44 in the front with 44" mudders, and i beat the hell out of them and the only thing we were breaking is u joints in the drive shaft and the pinons bearing boss in the 9in rear's. Have fun.
