Manual Choke Cable (won't stay open)
I have a 460 with a Holley 750 double pumper (4150). It has a manual choke which I would like to keep. However, under load the engine vacuum will close the choke blade. Need a solution to keep the choke open once the engine is warmed up. I checked the linkage at the carb and the detent ball/spring/hole are all present and line up. The hole is a little worn on the one side which is probably why it doesn't hold.
I found one thread on here about someone having a similar problem but no solution.
Does anyone know of a choke cable with detents or steps to it?

Thanks for the suggestions.
Ya, there's a cable installed now. No problem at idle, the choke stays where I set it. However, when I'm driving down the road after a bit you can see that the choke button starts pushing out. Engine of course runs poorly until I push the choke back open.
The cable is new but just a universal cheap cable. It's installed just right of the steering column through a hole drilled in the fire wall. Basically has a straight shot to the carb (bit of a sweep I guess but pretty straight). Little to no resistance when moving the cable. Which is the problem in this case. My earlier cable route was too much resistance and couldn't operate the choke.
There is a detent on the carb but not strong enough I guess. Was really just wondering what others had done. Guess I'll post up when I figure out something that works.

Okay, here's a solution to the problem. Around $20 at Autozone. I was hoping to check out the locking mechanism before buying but had to order it in. Plastic part is not 100% fail safe but I think it will work. The plastic threads into the housing and clamps down on the square shaft. The wire end rotates at the end of the square shaft so you don't twist the wire (other end is fixed at the carb). One nice thing about this design is that you can lock it in any position throughout the stroke.
