What is the best fluid to feed the transfer case with?
I am going to be doing a coolant flush and the transfer case
fluid change and wanted to get some input of the best stuff
to put in. Id the Motorcraft transfer case Fluid just over
priced XYZ fluid?

I have no idea if it is better than anything else or not, but I use Royal Purple Synchro Max.

I have used it for 100k miles or so and like it.

Before using it, I contacted Royal Purple and the Technical Sales rep had a good spiel. No regrets so far.

 

Darn near anything for the transfer case... If you plan to fill it and forget it for eternity a full syn fluid would do the trick. Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Amsoil etc.

IMHO the Ford Transfer Case fluid is actually Mercon/Dexron III but they won't/can't call it that.

And the bigger mystery is Ford still doesn't recommend Mercon V for the T/C for whatever reason.

Back in my fleet days all Ford T/C's and power steering systems were serviced with Shell Donax TD hydraulic fluid.

I've always used mobil 1 full syn ATF in there. I have been running 100k intervals with no issues.

 

I put Mercon V in the Expy transfer case, and would put it in Dan's in a nano-second. Works fine, and the Expy is an active (as in always transferring torque)
transfer case. Ours can take darn near anything short of water...

 

How much cherry juice does it take?

2 quarts....I don't what is best, but I used Amsoil ATF.
