Hi,

ny mane is Zeljko and I´m from Germany and Need some Information for our new truck.

It is a 54 F100 with a 239 cui Engine and an AUTO trans in the dataplate.

Right now I have the Problem that it doesn´t backup. It drives Forward without any Problems, only the backup gear doesn´t seem to work.

If i put it in neutral, it rolls front and back without Problems.

So does anyone have an idea what this could be?

And can someone tell me where to buy Transmission parts or even what Transmission is inside? Is there anpther specifikation than Auto, e.g. C4, C3...

If the truck came with an automatic originally, it should be a Fordomatic 3 speed model PAD-E. You should be able to identify the transmission by the nameplate on the left side of the transmission. (as seen below)



Once you determine which transmission it is that should help you get some assistance. I really don't know anything about these transmission, but hopefully someone will be along soon to help you.

I had that problem on a early '60's Ford with auto. Not sure how similar the two trannies are, but the problem was a servo housing that cracked (it was bolted on instead of being part of the case). It was a real common issue back then.
