So my friend with a '97 f350 replaced his water pump last night and now when he first starts it up it bogs down real bad until it warms up? Never happened before, Has 220,000 miles automatic. Any help would be much appreciated

Just a wild azz guess. Is maybe he broke the exhaust back pressure sensor and it's shorting causing the ebpv to close. That's the only thing I can think off
