It's a good thing I don't drink, so that $22 can go towards my truck and not the toilet.

FWIW, I have almost every piece of literature you can get for a 1980 truck, from copies of the multiple dealer brochures, to the factory Body/Chassis/Electrical, Pre-Delivery, Engine Repair, etc shop manuals. If I spent the money on all of that, I'm pretty sure the $22 CD from HiPo isn't gonna break me. But after spending the last year and a half working the counter and flipping through the mediocre electronic catalog at Advance, the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is flip through more parts catalogs. So the CD is the least of my worries at the moment. To this point I haven't needed it bad enough to snag it. But when I do, I'll gladly travel over to HiPo and place my order.

It would be nice if a parts catalog that went beyond 1989 was available.

Here's what my bushings look like. I'm using Motion Control's Prothane bushings in all cases. And all hardware has been powder coated with an epoxy primer and then a semi-gloss black.

First is the radiator support setup, complete with hardware. The radiator support goes where the gap is and the frame mount goes where the gold colored piece is.

These are the front cab bushings, and the frame mount goes where the gold collar is:

And here is the rear cab setup. Note that I don't have the large washer that the drawing shows on top of everything as I don't have any of those in all of my spares. Apparently none of the F150's I've parted out, from 81 - 86, used them.

I've been talking to Gary in PMs, and doing my own research about these, and I thought I'd share what I've found.

Gary is not using the factory metal upper retainer on his truck, and I decided that I wanted to use it on mine. I got one from a junkyard for free, and sandblasted and painted it. So, here is what that looks like (mid sandblast):

I am also using Energy Suspension Polyurethane mounts, so they look a little different than the factory ones, and the Prothane mounts that Gary has.

I needed a few washers to get to the correct 1.34 inches between the frame mount and core support. Here's the entire thing together:

And here is everything all laid out:

From top to bottom I have:
a) An M12 x 1.75 nut
b) Lock washer (because the hardware store didn't have a lock nut)
c) Fender washer
d) The factory square spacer
e) Two factory shims
f) Two more fender washers
g) An M14 washer
h) The factory upper retainer (now painted black)
i) Upper polyurethane mount
j) Bronco Graveyard "Frame Saver" which I will use to repair my rusty core support frame mount
k) Lower Polyurethane mount
l) M12 (?) washer that came with the Poly mounts
m) A M12 x 1.75 x 100 mm bolt

Items e-i are required to have the correct 1.34 in. spacing. The core support goes between d and e, and the frame mount is j.

Now all I have left is to clean and paint everything, and install it!

Gary that large washer that you have not got on both off your trucks (maybe early trucks) . Would this be some thing that ford may have added to the later model trucks. Maybe it has been added to the later trucks when they found out that just the bolt was not good enough

Oz - The same part, EOTZ 1000396-A, was used from 1980 through 1989 for the F-Series trucks.

Joey - Google that number and see if you aren't glad you used aftermarket bushings. I just now found that number - I wasn't reading the catalog correctly.

With all this talk about body bushings (and finishing up my suspension bushing replacement job) I think I will tackle this next.

I don't want the poly bushings (they are stiffer and some say squeak). I want rubber (OEM) style. The rubber bushings lasted 30+ years so no need to go to poly (unless I'm missing some info) .... just saying.

It looks like Jeffs Bronco Graveyard has the OEM rubber bushings in this kit. 1980-1997 F-Series Truck Cab Mount Hardware Kit-Broncograveyard.com

Oddly that kit (at $285) doesn't include the lower bushings. It says buy a poly bushing kit for the lowers. I assume I would need the lowers too. Cant recall now what condition my lowers are in - maybe the lowers don't wear out?? Why else wouldn't they NOT be included in the JBG kit?

Is there a poly bushing "lower bushings only" kit available?

Yes, the rubber bushings are softer than poly. Personally, I think the Fords are too softly bushed and have too much give, so I like the poly bushings on Big Blue.

As for JBG, I don't understand why the kit doesn't have all the bushings. The lowers are the same age as the uppers. No, they don't have weight on them, but the rubber has to stiffen, break down, etc.

Gary, I found that number too a couple days ago after carefully reading this thread. I'm not sure if you saw the same Ebay listing I did, but NOS ones go for about $120 (!)

Mike, That kit looks like a ripoff! I would try to restore as much of your old parts as you can, and just spend $70 (Google around a little, you can find them cheaper than what JBG wants for them) on a poly kit. It will have all the bushings you need. I'm having a member on FSB ship me a whole side, complete with used bushings and hardware for $15.

I "removed" my old ones last night

Does anyone do a complete kit top and bottom front to back ? And if a few members need a new set could we do a group buy off a supplier ?

Uh - your supposed to remove that bolt in the center of the bushing - and leave the frame in the truck.
