aftermarket hitch for the X

So I`m cleaning up some rust under the X and I`m poking around the hitch. well I find the hitch is a little rustier than I thought it was, more than just scaling. it will be fine for the rest of the year though!

I was searching online for a good used rustfree hitch for the X when I came across Curt Manuf. they offer a hitch for the X Hitch Lookup for 2002 Ford Excursion 2WD or 4WD. I didn`t think anyone offered a hitch? I may be looking into it. I will also price out a new one from Ford on Monday. anyone ever put a Curt hitch on their X? I`ve used them on other cars, so I know the quality is decent.

Supposedly Economy offers one also! At least that is what the body shop and insurance adjuster told me!

I insisted mine was replaced after spinning down the highway with the Ex and Travel trailer a few weeks ago! Let me tell you I have wrecked various things at high rates of speed.......but spinning 180 Degrees in a a vehicle with a trailer attached with a combined weight of 15k.....is just a sickening feeling!

This aftermarket one is so old they don't even list it on their site anymore.

I couldn't find anyone who made one for mine when I needed to replace mine last year for the same reason. Anyways, I had a local hitch shop custom make a new one that was thicker than the factory one. Also had it sprayed with LineX to prevent future rust.
Only cost $400 out the door.

The one thing I don`t like about the Curt is that the crosstube does not go through the side rails. it is welded to them, which I don`t care for. I would rather the crosstube be supported by going through the side rails, instead of just supported by the welds.

there is a hitch shop by me. maybe I`ll give them a call and see what they have to say, otherwise it looks like I may have to go OEM.

Somebody said nobody makes hitches,
Somebody else said maybe they just started to
I said I have one but it is so old that it isn't even listed anymore.
Then I gave a link to another old one for sale.
