1967 F500 Questions
As you know I've had endless problems with the 68'. I have recently found a 67' F500 that runs and drives for 800$ . The guy has no idea what engine it is. He says it has a sticker that says "360-390"on the valve cover . It is a 4 speed, single speed rear diff. Just fill me in on what to look at before buying. What I need to know, and just general info.

Well, the basics of tires, brakes, general condition. Also, what is the GVWR and is it enough to do what you want?
If the engine is a 360/390 it was transplanted. The F500 most likely would have had a FT 330 in it. If it was a medium duty 330, the front cover would swap to an FE easily, and you'd be up on power a bit, but the FT will take a lot more abuse than an FE in a truck like that.
A 4 speed and single speed axle will limit you to maybe 60 mph. Heavily loaded you will struggle to pull hills due to the gaps between gears.
But overall, condition, how it runs, stops, turns, idles etc would be what to look for. The F500, like the F600, was a well made truck. How time and prior owners have treated it are the greater concerns here imo.
Good luck with it.
