1999 f350 power stroke rough idle

Hello all I'm new here to the forum.

Was driving my 1999 f350 with the 7.3l power stroke yesterday. I came to a stop and the truck began idling rough and emitting white smoke from the exhaust with a complete loss of power. It did not throw any codes.

Background on the truck: 1999 f350, 108000 miles, banks tuner, Garrett turbo, s&b intake, mbrp exhaust, and it's lifted 6 inches.

I checked the fuel filter it is clean. The white smoke smells like raw fuel but the oil does not. Wondering if you guys could help me with some trouble shooting and problem solving to figure out where to go from here. I feel it may be an injector issue but hoping it is not.

Thanks in advance

Check your under valve cover harness. They wiggle loose

If the truck didn't die I don't think its an IPR issue. But check the nut on the back to be sure.

Valve cover harness is good.

The truck did not die and now that it is cold it won't start back up.

I'm wondering how an open circuit to an injector will cause fuel to be injected (white smoke smells like fuel).

I pulled the injectors today, I found that 2 injectors on passenger side had some pretty extensive wear on the top o-ring on both.

May be a newb question but, The drivers side injectors looked pretty good. Wondering if there is a way to tell if the injector is bad when out of the motor?

Sending it out for testing is about the only way to tell for sure.

That's what I figured. Does it seem that I more than likely have a bad injector or could it be just the o-rings?

If you're losing high pressure oil through the o-rings it could conceivably affect the way the injector operates. If it was me, I'd probably replace the o-rings and give it a shot. It's a relatively cheap thing to do to at least see if it improves.

I appreciate the help and ideas so far, I'm going to have them flow tested while they are out. Hopefully I find its just the rings. But I'll get them tested and go from there.

Update, took the injectors to 3 different ships within 75 miles of my location. All wanted 500+ for the flow test. Just adding the new o-rings did not make a difference, still experiencing the same problems. Would it be safe to assume bad injector? Or should I look for something else?

Thanks

mine did something very similar when the two halves of the turbo came loose. compressor and exhaust sides started to separate.

Installed the injectors after a bit of cranking the truck fired and ran fine. I let it run until the excess smoke had mostly run off. I turned the truck off let it sit for a while. When I went to start it again, Ithe fuel pump began making a weird noise and crank time was longer than normal. The trucks idle would fluctuate a little from normal to a little rough, when rough it seems like there is a knocking noise coming from around injector 5 or 6.

Anybody know why this is?
