A/C Quits after radio installation

2000 F250. After market radio was installed about a week ago. The a/c began blowing off/on with cool air and has now quit blowing all together. Any chance the radio install affected the a/c?

Installed many car stereos in my days, and I can't think of any reason this would be related. Is it the blower itself that is off/on, or blower working fine just cycling from cold to warm air (meaning compressor not working)?

First thing would be a pressure test to determine if the AC leaked out. If so, you can re-fill with one of those DIY kits at the auto store, but if it happens again then you have a leak that needs to be found and addressed.

First we noticed a couple of times it wasn't cycling (per your description). Yesterday it was blowing cool just fine, but this morning it is not even blowing.

So the blower motor is problematic too, along with the cycling? Sounds like an unrelated gremlin. Unless the radio installer decided to cut into a harness for the HVAC system to get power for the radio....in that case they should stick to their day job, and if that is their day job, well you catch my drift

Maybe it is just coincidental, but I "needed" to pose the question. Thank you for your feedback. We will check out your recommendations.

I guess the other thing I would check is the radio itself. Is it a full 2-DIN or a 1-DIN unit mounted into a bracket? Should be easy enough to pop out and inspect the behind dash area to make sure the back of the radio hasn't pinched or cut into any wire harnesses/bundles. I just installed mine this weekend and I don't recall any "tight fits" with any other wire bundles, but worth a look.

I don't know if this is the answer or not, but there was thread not too long ago that addressed the intermittent blowing of cool air and it posted a great read on how to fix it.....it has to do with adjusting and "air gap" on the compressor.......

I know that is what mine is doing, the cold air will just come and go....but the blower on mine works all the time.....just cold air isn't a constant.....
