so anyway, it seems whether i go with a van, stretch and make four door an early bronco body, or just stick with regular cab like the one above with the tube/plate steel bed, it does seem i will be going with the 7.3 IDI driveline..

out of all the ideas ive been having, the big constant, and my largest criteria is to have an engine that is multifuel friendly, bullet proof reliable, and easy to work on.. reading other threads they say the same thing about the 7.3 IDI so thats already decided..

looks like that NMB2 truck reached 350hp at the dyno? my power goals are 200-250hp, i dont think id ever need more than that

im mostly going to work on modifications intended for better reliability and efficiency while making it more suitable for the waste fuels mentioned above, so ill likely be going in a completely different direction with diesel modifications

Look at the posts by Joshofalltrades, he has probably run the most WMO through an IDI then anyone here. IIRC his biggest issue he's had has been filtering out all the metal from the waste oils. The FSS(fuel shutoff solenoid) in the IP is bathed in fuel and magnetic so iron in the fuel sticks to it and eventually burns it up.

id probably fabricate a centrifuge for filtering out the fine particles like that, but if the problem is the fuel sticking to a magnet, designing a magnetic fuel filter could help too

i do think a van body will be in my best interest, i think i have more usage for that than anything else, a topless four door looks cool, but what does it really offer?.. a truck can carry a lot in the back of it, but then again so could a van which can also carry more people if necessary.. plus the van i can set up a bed/chair, desk, fridge with a hot plate or a microwave for traveling until i get my camper, and then itll have the necessary hardware to pull the camper when it comes time for me to get it

ill be living in the camper.. going to attempt a more frugal, minimalistic lifestyle for a bit, spend my summers at least living outdoors at camp grounds and such, so yeah, thats my plan

well, i think everyone in here for their roles in helping me decide a 7.3L IDI powered E350 van is what im looking for
